Biography
Benjamin Broadbent was born in Yorkshire, England.
Benjamin Broadbent, son of William Broadbent and Sarah Wortley, was baptised on 20 May 1804 at St Michael the Archangel, Emley, Yorkshire England.[1][2][3]
Banns for the marriage of Benjamin Broadbent and Alice Barker were issued in July 1826 at St Michael and All Angels, Thornhill, Yorkshire, England.[4]
Benjamin Broadbent and Alice Barker were married on 14 August 1826 at St Michael and All Angels, Thornhill, West Riding, Yorkshire, England.[5][6][7][8]
Children from this marriage were:
- Harriet (Broadbent) Blackwell (bef.1827-bef.1864) was baptised on 5 February 1827 at Flockton, Yorkshire, England.[9][10]
- Sarah (Broadbent) Heeley (abt.1839-1893) was born in 1839 in Honley, Yorkshire, England.[11]
- Enoch Broadbent (bef.1853-1903) was born in 1853[12] and was baptised on 13 November 1853 at St Michael, Emley, Yorkshire, England[13]
In 1841 Benjamin, his wife Alice and daughter Sarah were living at Taylor Hill, Emley, Yorkshire, England, with Benjamin's parents, William and Sarah. His father's occupation was "Farmer", and Benjamin's was "Ag Lab".[14]
In 1861, Benjamin, Alice, Sarah and Enoch were farming 14 acres at Park Lane, Emley, Yorkshire, England.[15]
Between 1868 and 1873 Benjamin Broadbent of Park Lane, Emley was listed in the Emley polling books in the Scissett Polling District.[16][17][18]
In 1871 Benjamin was still farming 14 acres at Park Lane, Emley, Yorkshire, England.[19]
Benjamin's wife Alice died age 64 in 1872.[20]
In 1881, the widowed Benjamin was a pauper dependent on "Parish Pay" at Springfield, 1/2 mile west of Emley, Yorkshire, England.[21]
Benjamin Broadbent died at Emley, Yorkshire, England in 1886[22] and was buried at St Michael, Emley, Yorkshire, England on 3 January 1886.[23]
