Abraham Bowman, son of George Bowman and Mary Hite, was born on October 16, 1749, on Cedar Creek, Frederick, Virginia. He married Sarah Henry and they had seven children together. He died on November 7, 1837, in Kentucky having lived a long life of 88 years, and was buried there.

Abraham Bowman was born on October 16, 1749, in Cedar Creek, Frederick, Virginia, to Mary Hite, age 41, and George Bowman, age 50.[1][2]
Military Service
Abraham served the colonial cause for independence with the 8th Regiment, "The German Regiment", Virginia Troops, from 1776 to 1779, retiring as a Colonel.[1][3][4][2][5][6]
Family
Abraham married Sarah Henry in Lincoln (now Mercer), Kentucky, on February 13, 1782, when he was 32 years old. They had the following issue:
Mary "Polly" Bowman born March 11, 1783; died November 8, 1863; married John "Jack" Keen, born 1781 in Fairfax County, Virginia; died September 27, 1827 in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky.
Abraham Jr Bowman born February 27, 1785 in Fayette, Kentucky; died 1828 in Kentucky.
John Bowman born January 31, 1787 in Lincoln, Kentucky; died January 10, 1873 in Mercer, Kentucky.
Sarah Bowman born September 18, 1788 in Lincoln, Kentucky.
William Bowman born November 18, 1789 in Lincoln, Kentucky; died April 6, 1847 in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky.
Elizabeth Bowman born August 16, 1798 in Lincoln, Kentucky; died June 12, 1835 in Woodford, Kentucky.
Death
Abraham died on November 7, 1837, in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky when he was 88 years old. He is buried in Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky.[7]
Property
Abraham received a Military Land Grant for his service. On 29 November 1830, Warrant # 1566 was issued for 500 acres.[8]
