Biography

Jovin Bourque was baptized at the age of 3 months on 10 Apr 1840 in Grande-Digue, New Brunswick, the son of Joseph Bourque and Marie Goguen..^[1][2]

In the 1861 census "Jeramy" (age 21) lived with his parents and siblings in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[3]

In the 1871 census Jauvin (age 29) was in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[4] He was listed with his parents Joseph and Marie, and brother Dominique.

He married Marie Rose Haché on 7 September 1872 in Grande-Digue. The parents were not named in the marriage record. The witnesses were Jude Haché and Marie Poirier. ^[5][6][7] A dispensation was granted for 3 degrees and for 4 degrees of consanguinity (they were second cousins on one side and third cousins on the other, view relationship).

In the 1891 census Jovan (age 52) lived in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[8]

He passed away on 25 May 1891 and was buried on 27 May 1891 in Grande-Digue. The age given in the burial record was about 42 years of age. ^[9]

Research Notes

Jovin's parents were not named in his marriage record. In his civil marriage record, he was noted as being from the parish of Dundas. The only Jovin Bourque baptism recorded in the right time period appears to be Jovin Bourque, born Jan 1840 and baptized 10 Apr 1840 in Grande-Digue, the son of Joseph Bourque and Marie Goguen.
