Was a Confederate Recruiter in Southeast Missouri, captured and taken to Alton Prison in Illinois, where he died of typhus and is buried in Alton Confederate Cemetery in East Alton, Illinois
David was born about 1823. He joined the CSA military in 1862. He was arrested (not captured) in September 1863 and taken to the Alton Military Prison, where he was sentenced for his crime and died in December of that year of typhus. His name is on the monument at the Alton Confederate Cemetery.
Records below sometimes refer to Daniel rather than David. Not certain which is relevant; there may have been a tendency to write down the familiar (Daniel).
