Currently spending most of my time on my new Civil War Project, trying to find sources for the 1747 people who died in Alton Military Prison, a POW camp for Confederate soldiers, from 1862-1865--or at least for as many as I can. For the most part, they died of smallpox, malaria, typhoid, and measles. 1354 of the dead were prisoners, and the rest were guards and civilian workers. Some are buried in an Alton, Illinois graveyard, and some were buried in mass graves on "Smallpox Island," now under the surface of the Mississippi River.
Otherwise, I'm 43 years a genealogist, with a lot of on-the-ground research in county courthouses, graveyards, historical societies, and public libraries, cranking away at microfilm machines.
Having recently been a victim of identity theft, for now, I'm skittish and keeping my own details off the website.

The Global Cemeteries Project is currently undergoing our member check-in and wanted to verify that you are still active and interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Cemetery Teams? If not, is there a particular Team or area you are interested in participating with? I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!
We use Google Groups for internal project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup for access feel free to submit a join request and we will get that approved as quick as possible. We also ask that members check their followed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (CEMETERIES) so you don't miss any discussions in G2G.
Last, but not least, we would like to thank you for all of your contributions to WikiTree and let you know that any ideas or suggestions for improvement you may have for the Global Cemeteries Project would greatly appreciated!
I look forward to hearing form you soon!

He was exchanged for a union prisoner, and spent the rest of the war fighting.

You don't have any Suggestions (errors) in your profiles - hooray! Images can't be posted if they come from another site, unless you have their written permission. You can post the details so others know what information you got, and from where. On the profiles with interviews make the citation as complete as possible and then look for census or other records (FamilySearch is a free site you can find many records on).
Let me know if you have any questions, I'm here to help!
