Biography

Born 2nd of 8 children. ^[1]

Arrived in Sydney, New South Wales with family on 9 October 1827 age 5 years on the ship "Alacrity". Was living with family at Field of Mars at the time of the 1828 New South Wales, Australia Census (Australian Copy). ^[2]

Moved to the Bathurst area with her family around in October 1831.

1st Marriage - Age 21 at St Michaels, Bathurst to Nicholas Read. ^[3]

They had 7 children between 1841 and 1858 - while living in the Bathurst area.

Husband Nicolas died in 1863.

Death of Mrs. T. Jones

A very old colonist in the person of Mrs. Thomas Jones, has joined the great majority. Mrs. Jones, who was 75 years of age, was the relict of the late Mr. N. Read, and mother of the late Mr. R. Read, of Bathurst. She was also the mother of Mr. Nicholas Read, of Forbes, and Mr. W. Read, of Molong. The deceased was widely known and respected.

Burial Bathurst Cemetery where a number of her children were buried having pre-deceased her. ^[8]
