Biography

His parents were William Blois of Ipswich and Grundisburgh Hall and Frances Tye of Ipswich. He was educated at Pembroke, Cambridge, earning a BA (1620), and had appeared at Gray's Inn by 1619. He married Cecily "Elizabeth" Wingfield of Letheringham, and they had 5 sons and 3 daughters.

It was this William who actually acquired Grundisburgh Hall, though his ancestors had been in residence since the reign of Henry VII. He gave up being a merchant and "devoted himself to the study of local genealogies."

He was a Member of Parliament for Suffolk during the 1654 and 1656 terms, and then for Ipswich from 1661 through 13 Nov 1673.
