Edith (also Edee or Eedy in some records) was born about 1620 with unknown place of birth.
She married Capt. William Harris by the date of 1642 in Massachusetts. She was the mother of Hannah, Mary, Martha (m. Deacon Joseph Coit), Elizabeth and Patience.
William married first, by 1642, EDITH ____, who died at Middletown on 5 August 1685.[18] She had been admitted as “Eedy Harris” to the First Church in Charlestown, Massachusetts, on 30 9m [November] 1642.
Research Notes
Disputed parentage
It has been speculated that Edith's parents were Thomas Bligh and Jane Penkevell of Cornwall, but no source material has been presented. At this point there seems to be no basis for this speculation.

Her last name needs to be changed to Unknown. In 2022, an update on the Harris family was published in NEHGR, again confirming that her last name at birth was not known.
Are there any reliable sources for her name as Bligh?
Since no response was given from the Profile Manager for her parents, I have detached the unsourced parents of Edith Harris. Thanks for the message back, Marc, I appreciate it.
I don't see any documented sources stating that her maiden name was ever Bligh. Why is she connected to the Bligh family without any documentation whatsoever? No birth record, no baptismal record, not a shred of evidence to think that she was a Bligh. I don't get it at all... it seems as if it has been repeated from some material which is unsourced with zero explanation as to how Bligh is suspected.
If someone DOES have sourced material, then it should be added... if not, it should not be "purported to be" because there is no proof that it is purported to be. Harris Genealogy nor Savage don't even list her maiden name as Bligh, just "Edith", so I am highly suspicious. I am a Harris descendant through both this William Harris and John Harris, his brother. I just want to make sure it is as correct as possible.
I examined this profile and it makes zero sense why anyone would assume her maiden name was Bligh. It is as if someone years ago pulled it from the ether and never bothered to record why they assumed it was Bligh. If anyone has that information then that would be great, but until it is presented Bligh is just a repeated baseless claim.
Pat (Velleman) Kelynack removed Edith (Bligh) Harris as a daughter of Thomas Bligh without any explanation. I am reinstating the relationship until further consultation and documentation.
Howlong and Toleration are not children of Edith Bligh and our William Harris-2266, but William Harris-8702. I have asked their managers to check their records.

I am removing the association as wife of the recently added spouse, William Harris (bef.1610-abt.1681).

WikiTreers have disputed claims about this profile. Perhaps those conflicts should be addressed before adding genealogical links--Gene

Also, it is doubtful she was born in Connecticut in 1620. More likely to be England.
