Dr. David Harold Blackwell was a mathematician and statistician. He was the first African-American elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1965. He is best known for his work on the theory of duels.[1]
David Harold Blackwell was born on April 24, 1919,[2] to Grover Blackwell and Mable Johnson in Centralia, Illinois. He was the eldest of four children.
David Harold Blackwell married Ann Madison in 1944. They had eight children together. [3]
