Joshua Bird was a Revolutionary War soldier whose descendants' DNA demonstrate common descent from Francis Bird and Jane Littleton.[1] His first appearance in the historical record is an enumeration in the tithable list in Louisa Co., Virginia in 1771 where he had presumably just turned 16 years old. His military records suggest residence in King George's Co. in 1776, where he enlisted in the Fifth Virginia Regiment and served in the Continental Line until 1779. After the war he is believed to have married Drusilla Bell from Frederick Co., Maryland and settled in Prince William Co., Virginia. He and his family migrated to Nelson Co., Kentucky around the turn of the century where he spent the remainder of his life. He died in 1839 and his descendants moved across the Chaplin river to Washington Co., Kentucky.
