Hi Nancy & thanks for participating in the Connect-a-Thon with Team Virginia!

Since it was your first thon, I wanted to touch base with you (my apologies for not doing so BEFORE the thon, which was my intent, but I caught a bug earlier that week and am just now getting back on my feet).

Anyway... I was not able to make any of the hangouts during the thon & am not a "Discord" participant. I hope you were able to participate in both forums. The few times I was online during the weekend, I didn't hear anything about the thon at all in my e-mails or otherwise. If that was your experience as well, my apologies again! I had intended to start a G2G chat thread for those of us who aren't Discord members - or ask one of the team captains to add all of us as managers of Space:Team_Virginia_—_2024_Connect-a-Thon so that we could communicate via e-mail by posting comments to it (which we've done in the past). Links for the hangouts (every 4 hours from kick-off to closing) are at Help: Connect-a-Thon.

I do hope you had fun. And CONGRATULATIONS on your 20 connections! Although I'm no longer a team captain for Team Virginia, I do still try to serve in the cheerleader role & I'd like to hear your thoughts about your first thon.

Fingers crossed that I'll be more present in the next thon!

Cheers, Liz

Sorry! I had the wrong page for the Hangouts. They're at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Challenge_Hangouts

Hi Nancy,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thank you Stuart! I will be treading carefully in my Pre-1700 research and may only gather information from existing profiles. If I find any additional sources of information, I will make sure to confirm with G2G before adding to any profiles. I'm currently checking on my connection to Jamestowne Society Ancestors.

Hi & thank you for joining the Virginia Project.

We have two google groups - one for discussion (https://groups.google.com/g/wtvirginiadiscuss) and one for managed profiles (https://groups.google.com/g/wtvirginia). Send a join request if you'd like to join either or both (include your WikiTree ID so we know it's you).

When you get a chance, please add your info on the Virginia Team page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Virginia_Team). If you haven't already looked it over, Virginia Project (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Virginia) is the main project page and has lots more information.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Sjana

Welcome, Cousin Nancy! So glad you are here!

Welcome to WikiTree, Nancy!

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
