Note that his father is different in The Peerage than here on WikiTree.

Thanks. ThePeerage.com draws on Cokayne's Complete Peerage which appears to have an error. There are good sources for the father being Thomas not Maurice, and for Katherine Botetourt's husband being Thomas. When this profile is overhauled, more sourcing can be added.

Complete Peerage II:234 has a chart which is only remotely related to the person it is discussing; it does call his father "Maurice". Richardson also cites Complete Peerage but also includes a note stating "Maurice" is an error and the father's name should be Thomas. This is very easy to show from many documents, including the IPM of Thomas de Berkele.

Thanks - the footnote on thepeerage's entry for him cites Cokayne, which will need to be checked to see if Cokayne identified Thomas or Maurice as his father (the mother is the same both here & there).

Richardson & History of Parliament online both have his father as Thomas.

This profile is in a Richardson-documented trail from the Deighton sisters to surety baron Saher de Quincy (see trail here). I will soon be adding the Magna Carta Project as a co-manager of this profile and adding a project box/project section to the bio. This profile still needs development.
