Biography

George, son of Carl Edvard Berglund (1865-1937) & Anna B (Anderson) Berglund (1857-1899), was born on 24 February 1887 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and baptised on 10 October 1887 at First Lutheran Church.[1][2] At age 13 he worked as a farm Laborer for his uncle Otto Bergland in Rock Creek, Dunn, Wisconsin.[3] At age 19 he was back with his parents working as a machinist.[4]

George married Harriet Johnson in a civil ceremony on 5 April 1907 in Hudson, St Croix, Wisconsin.[5] They lived at 243 Mackinon Street in Iron Belt, Iron, Wisconsin. George worked for an iron mine as a fireman and pipeman. Later he became a concrete laborer for Morgan and Company in Hurley. Wisconsin. They were divorced about 1925. The children remained with George.[6][7][8][9]

He moved his family to Eau Claire after 1930. He was an employee of Hobbs Supply Co., Phoenix Division, 201 Wisconsin Street. George was described as 5 foot 9 1/2 inches tall, 182 lbs., blue eyes, gray hair (was light brown), ruddy complexion, small scar on right thumb.[10][11]

He passed away in 15 July 1967. George was buried in Northside Lutheran Cemetery, Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.[12]
