Prior to 1835 William Bennett and his family moved to Sabine, Texas. Not long after residing in Sabine they moved to Montgomery County (now Grimes County.) William served in the Texan Army from 1 October 1836 to 29 August 1837, due to health issues he was discharged on the 29th of April 1838. Likely passing away from illness prior to 1841 Montgomery County, Texas.[2]

Inferred Birth Date: William doesn't appear in the draws in the 1803 Georgia Land Lottery, suggesting a birth date after 1782.[3] In 1809 William was security for James Roan's guardianship of siblings Richard & Aesenath.[4] Consequently, it is inferred that William was born between 1872 & 1788.
Name Variations: Listed as William Barnett in Early Records of Georgia Vol. 2 Pg. 326.
Deathplace: William passed away in Montgomery County, which is now known as Grimes County.
