Biography

Viola (Belfield) Brown is a part of US Black heritage.

Viola was born in 1908. She is the daughter of John Belfield and Nannie Mason. In the 1910 census Viora (age 2) was the daughter of John Belfield in Gaston, Northampton, North Carolina, United States.^[1] In the 1920 census Ola (age 10) was the daughter of John Belfield in Gaston, Northampton, North Carolina.^[2] In the 1930 census Viola (age 21) was the single daughter of John Belfield in Dromgooler Plantation, Plantation, Powellton, Brunswick, Virginia, United States.^[3] Viola was in a directory in 1931 in Richmond, Virginia, working as a maid at Memorial Hospital.^[4]

In the 1940 census Viola (age 31) was the married head of household in Richmond, Richmond City, Virginia.^[5] In the 1950 census Viola (age 40), Maid, was the married head of household in Richmond, Richmond, Virginia, United States.^[6]

Viola died (age 76) from heart disease on 1 April 1985 in Richmond Memorial Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, United States.^[7][8] She was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.^[9]
