Lord Vere Beauclerk, was the third son of Charles Beauclerk, 1st Duke of St Albans, and his wife, Lady Diana de Vere and was born 14 July 1699. [1]
He entered the Navy, about 1713[2] and was promoted to the rank of Captain 30 May 1721 and appointed to the frigate Lyme and served in the Mediterranean 1722-27 under Sir Charles Wager. As this was during peace time most of his action seemed to be sailing from Lisbon to Genoa and back again on a regular basis.[3] He returned to England on 7 July 1727 and was appointed to the Hampton Court in June 1731
Apart from his naval career, he was also a Member of Parliament; first being elected to the seat of New Windsor, in Berkshire on 31 May 1726 - February 1738. Elected for that seat again on 27 March 1738 - 1741
He died aged 82 on 2 October 1781[4] at his house in St James's Square, London and was buried on 6 October, in a vault in St James Church, Westminster.[5]
