It is unlikely she was born at Balfour, her paternal grandfather's house, and the fact is the place is unknown. Her date of birth is unknown, but 1520 is a good guess. She was not a half-sister of John Bethune, 8th of Balfour, who was her uncle. Her two married names are cited correctly here, but the husband's names are not given nor that of her known child.
