Biography
Rose (Barton) Paterson is one of twins.
Rose Isabella Barton was born on 30th December 1844 at Boree Nyrang, Molong, New South Wales, Australia. She was the second daughter and younger of twins of Robert Barton and Emily Darvall.[1]
She married Scottish emigrant, Andrew Paterson, in 1863 at Molong, New South Wales.[2] They had seven children, the eldest of whom, AB "Banjo" Paterson, became Australia's greatest poet.
After her husband passed away in 1889, Rose moved into the Gladesville-Hunters Hill peninsula of northern Sydney. She purchased a home that she named Rockend. Her mother had already done likewise.
She passed away in 1893 at Theta, Gladesville, New South Wales, and was buried in St Anne's Church of England Cemetery, Ryde.[3]Rose Isabella Paterson, widow of late Andrew Bogle Paterson,
of Illalong, Yass, aged 49 years."[4]
