Biography

Susanna (Barron) Randall immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Birth & Baptism

Susanna was baptized 8 August 1632 in Winfarthing, Norfolk, England, the daughter of Ellis & Grace (Unknown) Barron.

Emigration

The family immigrated to Watertown by 1640 per Anderson's "Great Migration Directory"[1]

Marriage

She married Stephen Randall (born in Ireland), on 14 Dec 1653 at Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[2]

Children

  1. Elizabeth Randall, oldest daughter, married — Codman;[3]
  2. Mary Randall, born on 23 June 1662 at Watertown,[4] married Abraham Chamberlain of Brookline on 28 February 1698;[5]
  3. Steven Randall, born 20 August 1665 at Watertown,[6] [7] may have died before 1698 as he is not mentioned in his father's will.
  4. Susanna Randall,[5] who married William Shattuck, son of William and Susanna Shattuck;[8]

Death

The final fate of Susanna is unknown; she is assumed to have died by 13 Jan 1697/98 when her husband Stephen Randall wrote her will and did not name her.[3] The Susan Randall who died at Watertown in 1673 was a different woman; Susan Kemball wife of John Randall. The only marriage at Watertown listed for Stephen Randall is 1653 to Susanna Barron so there is no indication that she died and he remarried before his own death.

Have updated her birth location based on Robert Charles Anderson's claim placing her father's immigration at 1640. See Research Notes.

Hi

See Randall-866 for sources re disconnection of her son-in-law as her husband.

Maryann

Hi

Susanna was not married to William Shattuck, jr, born in 1652 - he would have been aged one when they married in 1653.

Susanna Barron and Stephen Randall married in 1653. Their daughter, Susanna Randall married William Shattuck in 1671.
