Cornelius was born in 1832. Cornelius enlisted in Company I of the 103rd OVI on 11 Aug 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on 12 Jan 1863 and then promoted to Field & Staff as a Commisary Sergeant on 30 June 1863. He was reduced back to the rank of Private on 31 Oct 1863. He mustered out with the 103rd on 12 Jun 1865. His older brother Romulus joined him in Company I in 1865. He returned to Medina County after the war and then relocated to Michigan. He passed away in 1902.
