Biography

Mervyn was born in 1920. He was the son of Harvey Somers Barling and Sarah May Walker.

Mervyn served during WW2. Date of Enlistment  10th February 1942. Place of Enlistment  Narromine, New South Wales. Service Numbers  N352368 & NX163051.   He passed away in 1989 and is buried at the Narromine General Cemetery.

Research Notes

The MOB 1 enlistment form shows 29th September 1941 at the top, that is the date that the form was commenced. 

The oath was taken according to the back of the form on the 2nd September 1942 after he passed his medical which was performed in Port Moresby on the 2nd September 1942. 

However, the B103 service and casualty form states enlistment as 10th February 1942 and that he was taken on strength at the NSW Lines of Communication Area on the 10th February 1942.
