Biography

John was born in 1835. He was the son of William Ballow and Elizabeth Haselden.

John shows up in the 1850 census ^[1]in Russell, Alabama with his parents William and Elizabeth, and three other siblings.

In the 1860 census ^[2]John is shown to be 20 years of age and living in Macon, Alabama with his parents, William age 63 and Elizabeth age 63.

John's older sister Sarah Ballow Batley and three of her children show up on the same page of this census in the adjoining residence.

In the 1870 census ^[3]John age 33 and his wife Mary age 22 show up with their son Wiliam age 7. Also living in the same residence are

• Sarah Lamar age 46 (Mary's mother)
• Sarah Batley age 48 (John's older sister)
• Lucy Batley age 16
• James Batley age 12

• William Ballow Sr. age 85

John's father William passed away in around 1880 in Denison, Texas. John's wife Mary passed away on 26 Feb 1882

John passed away 17 January, 1891 in Denison, Texas and was buired in the Fairview Cemetery there in Grayson County.
