Biography

When John Logan Ball was born on 23 March 1887, in Madison, North Carolina, United States, his father, Jay Jarvis Ball, was 39 and his mother, Mary Freeman, was 45. He married Olivia Allison on 27 February 1911, in Brevard, Transylvania, North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Township 7 Ebbs Chapel, Madison, North Carolina, United States in 1940 and Marshall, Madison, North Carolina, United States in 1951. He died on 5 August 1951, in Asheville, Buncombe, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 64, and was buried in Dry Pond Cemetery, Marshall, Madison, North Carolina, United States.

John Logan Ball was born on 27 March 1887. He was the son of Jervis Jay Ball and Mary Freeman.^[1] He joined the Caney Fork Baptist Church at an early age.

In the 1900 census John L. Ball (age 13), Farm Laborer, was the son of Mary Ball in Little Pine Creek, Madison County, North Carolina.^[2] In the 1910 census Logan Ball (age 23), Farmer, was living with his widowed other Mary (age 70) in Little Pine Creek, Madison, North Carolina, United States.^[3]

Lagan (age 23), son of J Ball and Mary Ball, married Olivia Allison on 27 February 1911 in Transylvania County, North Carolina, United States.^[4] Logan registered for the draft on 12 September 1918 in Madison County, North Carolina. He and Olivia lived and farmed on R.F.D. 5 near Marshall.^[5] In the 1920 census Logan Ball (age 34), Farmer, was the married head of household in Little Pine Creek, Madison County, North Carolina.^[6] In the 1930 census Logan (age 43), Farmer, was the married head of household in Little Pine Creek, Little Pine, Madison, North Carolina, United States.^[7] In the 1940 census Logan (age 53), Farmer, was the married head of household in Madison, North Carolina.^[8]

Logan married Lillie Wells on 17 February 1943 in Cocke County, Tennessee, United States.^[9] In the 1950 census Logan (age 63) was the married head of household in Madison, North Carolina, United States.^[10]

John Logan Ball died unexpectedly on 5 August 1951 in a hospital in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina.^[11][12] Funeral services were on Tuesday, 7 August 1951, at the family home on R.F.D. 1 near Marshall. Officiants were Rev. Jesse Slagle, Rev. J. A. Martin, and Rev. Merrill.^[13] He was buried in Dry Pond Cemetery in Marshall.^[14]
