William (Wil) James Bald was born in 1972 in the district of Burra, South Australia, Australia ^[1], the son of David Bald and Elizabeth Dower and the brother of Alice Bald, George Bald, David Bald, Elizabeth Bald, Robert Bald, Fanny Bald, Arthur Bald and Florence Bald.

He married Florence Catherine Williams in 1893 in Burra, South Australia, Australia ^[2]and four of their children were Hurtle Clifford Bald, Dorothy Gladys Bald, Rita Florence Bald and William Roswald Bald.
