Biography

William Baird was born on 23 April 1796 ^[1] at Woodhead, Ayrshire, Scotland and was the son of Jean (Moffat) and Alexander Baird, Sr.

He married on 14 July 1840 in Scotch National Church at Saint Peter's Square, Manchester, England to Janet Johnston, ^{[2] [3]} daughter of Thomas Johnston, coal merchant of Prestwich and Gartcloss Lanarkshire, England.

He was a member of Parliament.

William Baird of Elie died on 08 March 1864 in Ayrshire, Scotland ^{[4] [5]} and was buried at Symington Churchyard in Symington, South Ayrshire, Scotland. ^[6]
