Biography

Theodate Bachiler was born about 1610, daughter of Stephen Bachiler.[1]

Along with her father and husband, she arrived from England at Boston June 5, 1632 on the ship, William and Francis.[2]

Their children:[1]

Theodate died on 20 Oct 1649 at Hampton.[3]

Is it safe to say that Theodate married Christopher Hussey before June 1632 when they arrived in Boston instead of 1635? And is it also safe to say they married in England?

Hmmm, well Anderson's sketch of Christopher Hussey says he arrived about 1633, first recorded on 14 May 1634. The 1632 date is based partially on "tradition" if he arrived with the inlaws, but appears to be unsubstantiated. He married "by 1635" based on the first child's baptism in Feb 1635[/6?] in Lynn. Since Theodate's family arrived in 1632 from Hampshire, and Christopher was from Surrey, I'm not sure I'd assume they married in England.

I'll correct the marriage estimate in the data field, and perhaps the pm of the son Stephen can re-evaluate their source for his birth.

FindAGrave gives a more specific birth location as Hampshire, England. Anderson gives a pretty extensive record review of her father Stepehen Batchelor, and while he did move around some, he seems to have records placing him in Hampshire both before and after Theodate's estimated birth. Any objections to updating the birth location to Hampshire, England (uncertain)?

No problem! Certainly, if you have better information you should use it.

Bachiler-79 and Bachiler-18 appear to represent the same person because: Same husband
Are you sure her birth year isn't 1610? It would make more sense for her marriage date.

Bachelor-68 and Bachiler-18 appear to represent the same person because: Folks, This looks like a good match! Thanks, Jeff

UNKNOWN-189644 and Bachiler-18 appear to represent the same person because: The family name is spelled many different ways, but Bachiler is the spelling used by Anderson in GMB.

Batchelder-1055 and Bachiler-18 appear to represent the same person because: Rev. Stephen Bachiler isn't known to have had two daughters named Theodate.

Hi Kevin. Could you please add an estimated birth year of 1601 so we can complete a merge of this profile into a lower-numbered profile? Many thanks!
