Eric Abner Richard Annetts was born on 24th May 1915 in Sydney's western suburbs, New South Wales, Australia. He was the older son of Arnold Annetts and Alice Hammond. [1]
Eric married Phyllis Bell on 14th April 1941 in Concord West, New South Wales. [2]
On 23rd April 1941 at Strathfield, eight days after the wedding, Eric enlisted in the Australian Army's Volunteer Defence Corps for part-time service at home during the Second World War. He was allocated to the 9th Battalion (NSW), based at Randwick, in Sydney's eastern suburbs. He discharged on 30th August 1944. [3] Following the war, he was awarded the Australia Service Medal 1939-1945 for three years VDC service.
Whilst Eric made his home in Sydney, his parents and younger brother, Maxwell, settled in Melbourne, Victoria. His sister, Joyce, moved to the United States with her family in 1954.
Aged about eighty years, he passed away in 1995 in New South Wales. [4]
