Aircraft Type: Halifax Serial number: LM 177 Radio call sign: MH – N Unit: ATTD 51 SQN RAF Summary: Halifax LM177 took off from RAF Snaith, Goole, Yorkshire, at 1742 hours on the night of 4/5th November 1944 detailed to bomb Bochum, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base.

Crew: RAF FO Reay G N Captain (Pilot) RAF Sgt D Thomson, (Flight Sergeant) RAF FO Arbon, H G (Navigator) RAF Flt Sgt I B Runciman, (Air Bomber) RAAF 424350 Flt Sgt P J Ambrose, (Wireless Operator Air) RAF Sgt J Hutchinson, (Mid Upper Gunner) RAF Sgt J F Maxwell, (Rear Gunner) A later report by a Missing Research & Enquiry team stated “ The aircraft crashed at Kelz approx. 8 miles south west of Cologne and all the crew were killed.” They are buried in the Rheinberg War Cemetery, Locality Kamp Lintfort, NordrheinWestfal, Germany. Rheinberg is 24kms north of Krefeld and 13kms south of Wesel.
