Phylicia Rashad is an American actress, singer, and director. She is best known for her role as Clair Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.
Phylicia Ayers Allen was born in 1948 in Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Dr. Andrew Arthur Allen and Vivian Ayers.[1] She was enumerated with her parents on the 1950 U.S. Federal Population Census in Houston, Harris, Texas.[2]
In 1972, she married her first husband, dentist William Bowles, Jr.[3] From 1978 until 1982 she was married to actor and Village People founder Victor Willis.[4]
Her third marriage was to former football player and sportscaster Ahmad Rashad, who proposed to her on-air before a Thanksgiving Day football game in 1985.[5]
