Ewan William Alison was the son of Alexander Alison and Jane Cameron who had married in 1845. He was born in about 1852.
His siblings were: Alexander Alison,Roderick Alison, Duncan Donald Tobias (Toby) Alison.
He was married on 26 July 1876 in Auckland, New Zealand, to Mary Ann Coleman. They had the following children:
He died aged 93 in 1945 and was buried at O’Neills Point Cemetery, Auckland in Row X, plot 76.
