John ALCHIN, son of Ambrose ALCHIN and Ann WATERHOUSE, was born on 13 October 1821 in Staplehurst, Kent, England, United Kingdom, died on 14 June 1901 in Dalton, New South Wales, Australia at age 79, and was buried on 16 June 1901 in Wesleyan Cemetery, Dalton, New South Wales, Australia.

John married Martha JOHNSON in 1853 in Greendale, Colony of New South Wales.

Martha was born on 25 August 1837 in Mulgoa, Colony of New South Wales, died on 31 August 1922 in Dalton, New South Wales, Australia at age 85, and was buried on 1 September 1922 in Methodist Cemetery, Dalton, New South Wales, Australia.

John Alchin arrived in Australia with his parents and siblings in 1838 on the Palmyra. ^[1]

  DALTON. - From Our Correspondent.
  ONE of the oldest residents of the district in the person of Mr John Alchin died last Friday night at the advanced age of 81. For some considerable time he had been a sufferer with asthma, but up to quite recently had always been able to get about. Mr. Alchin was amongst the first to purchase a farm on the creek when the land was first sold by auction, long before the Selection Act came into force, and had continuously resided on the same place, rearing a large family. His remains were interred in the Wesleyan portion of the local cemetery last Sunday afternoon in the presence of a very large number of mourners and friends, the service at the grave being conducted by the officer in charge of the local branch of the Salvation Army.
