Elizabeth Johns Adams was born July 2nd, 1840 in Weakley County. She married Allen David Adams on September 9th, 1858 in Weakley County. Allen was born August 22nd, 1837 in Tennessee, however, his parents, Phillip Adams, Jr. and Penelope Ward Adams had come to Weakley County from North Carolina. Allen was a Private in Company H, 7th Tennessee Cavalry, for the Confederate States of America. Elizabeth died on July 5th, 1898 and Allen died on September 28th, 1923. They are both buried in the Old Martin Family Cemetery however there are no tombstones visible for them now. They had nine children. One daughter, known as "Cousin Betty," Annie Elizabeth Adams, married Oscar Dommie Rowlett. Oscar Dommie Rowlett played an important role in helping to establish the early families around Weakley County. He was a home builder, a saw miller, a well digger and according to his granddaughter, Lillian Burnett Rowlett, he could fix anything. Oscar's father was George Washington Rowlett Sr. His grandfather was Archibald Rowlett who gave the land for the Public Well Missionary Baptist Church, originally called Mt. Pleasant Church and established in April, 1852. Oscar Dommie's brother, G. Wesley Rowlett married Elizabeth Johns Adams' sister, Virginia E. Adams.
