Adams was an American professional football player who was a cornerback in the NFL.
Phillip Adams was born July 20, 1988, in Mecklenburg, North Carolina to Alonzo Evia Adams and Phyllis Lanette Paden.[1] He attended Rock Hill High School,[2] where he played football and basketball. He played college football for the South Carolina State Bulldogs[3] and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.[4] He also played for the New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and Atlanta Falcons. In his time with the Raiders, he suffered two concussions over three games.[5]
Phillip Adams passed away in 2021.[6] An autopsy revealed that Adams suffered from an "unusually severe" case of a brain disease called chronic traumatic encephalopathy.[7] He shot himself on 8 April 2021 during a standoff with police, following a mass shooting in which he was identified as the shooter that killed six people. [8] Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Park Hollis Lakes, Rock Hill, York County, South Carolina.[9]
