Joseph was born about 1728. He was the son of Samuel Adams and Mary Fifield. Joseph's father, Samuel Adams Sr. was born May 16, 1689 in Boston and Mary Fifield, his mother, was born May 7, 1694 in Boston. They married in 1713 and had twelve children, but only Mary, Samuel Junior (the tenth child), and Joseph (the eleventh or twelfth child) survived infancy. He married Elizabeth Hill on September 11, 1754. He died about 1762.
