Biography

David Abner III was born on the 18th February 1919, the eldest child of Ewart Gladstone Abner, senior, and Virginia Rose Heinz.

David Abner III is Notable.

Some of the things for which David was notable:

• Achieved the rank of First Lieutenant in the 92nd Infantry division of the 5th Army (honourable discharge in 1946).^[1]
• Earned a Doctoral degree.
• Professor of business administration at Texas Southern University^[2]
• Business professor and historian, Howard university^[3]
• Dean of the Department of Economics, Howard university

In 2003, Abner moved to Missouri City, where he lives with his daughter.

Now at age 85 and blinded by glaucoma, Abner continues to contribute to education, tutoring children who need help reading.

His daughter brings him to Project CALL, a literacy center in Missouri City a few nights a week.

    "I am legally blind, so I can't see much, but I can still hear something, so I go to the center and have the children read to me and I can correct them when they mispronounce words or tell them what words mean," he says."^[2]

David Abner III passed away on the 22nd September 2008, in Missouri City, Fort Bend County, Texas, United States.
