Biography

William (Abernethy) Abernethy Master of Saltoun is a member of Abernethy Clan.

Sir William Abernethy, 7th of Saltoun was the son of Sir William Abernathy, 6th of Saltoun and Lady Mary Stewart.

He married Margaret Borthwick, daughter of Sir William Borthwick, 1st of Borthwick.[1]

He fought and died in the Battle of Harlaw on 24 July 1411. [2]

  • William Abernethy, d. 1428
  • Laurence Abernethy, 1st Lord Saltoun of Abernethy, b. c 1400, d. b 13 Mar 1460/61

If he died in the Battle of Harlaw, then he died near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, not Saltoun, East Lothian.
