Biography

SARAH ABBOTT, born at Andover, 3 Aug 1733[1] daughter of Zebadiah Abbott and Ann Lovejoy.[2]; married 21 Jan 1755,[3] her third cousin, TIMOTHY BALLARD, born at Andover, 1 Mar 1729/30[4] son Timothy Ballard and Hannah Chandler; died at Andover, 12 Jul 1768;[5]. Sarah did not remarry after Timothy’s death, and she died 2 Aug 1809.[6]

Sarah Abbott was descended from the Rowley Abbotts. Following the early death of her husband, Sarah ran an inn in Andover.[7]

Sarah is honored for patriotic service for paying the supply tax in 1780 as per Andover, Massachusetts Tax Records, 1768-1781, FHL #878781 [8]
