The earlier record would have had his birth date sometime in 1829; the later record would have had a birth date in 1833.

Note N290According to the Johnstown Directory and Citizens' Register as originally created between 5 April and 6 May 1889, the 9-member McVay family were living at 397 Locust Street, Conemaugh Borough under Joseph McVay, with nooccupation listed.

Note N291The Great Johnstown Flood occurs in the afternoon on this date. Except for one member, Elizabeth (Lizzie) McVay, all McVay family members survive since the house that they rented is just above the flood pathway with thegreatest destruction.
