This Catgeory is for profiles of people associated with the 10th Infantry Battalion, AIF, during the First World War.

The 10th Infantry Battalion was among the first infantry units raised for the AIF during the First World War. The battalion was recruited in South Australia, and together with the 9th, 11th and 12th Battalions, formed the 3rd Brigade. The battalion was raised within weeks of the declaration of war in August 1914 and embarked for overseas just two months later. After a brief stop in Albany, Western Australia, the battalion proceeded to Egypt, arriving in early December. The 3rd Brigade was the covering force for the ANZAC landing on 25th April 1915 and so was the first ashore at around 4:30 am. In 1916, the battalion re-deployed to the Western Front, in northern France and Flanders, Belgium.

The 10th had more commanding officers than any other battalion, 13 in total: Stanley Weir (1914-15, 1916), Miles Beevor (1915-16), George Dorricutt Shaw, James Samuel Denton, Felix Gordon Giles, Rupert Anstice Rafferty, Ross Jacob, Alexander Steele, Gordon Cathcart Campbell, Clarence Rumball, John Newman, William McCann, and Maurice Wilder-Neligan.

Members of the 10th Battalion were awarded: three Victoria Crosses (VC); one Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG); nine Companions of the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) and one bar; 34 Military Crosses (MC) and four bars; sixteen Distinguished Conduct Medals (DCM); 149 Military Medals (MM), eleven bars and one 2nd bar; nine Meritorious Service Medals (MSM); 47 Mentions in Despatches; and eleven foreign awards.
