Biography

Horatio White was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Horatio was born in 1877 at North Adelaide to William White and Kate Mitchell.^[1]

Horatio was a 27 year old painter when he married Elsie May Bratchell at the District Registrar's residence at Norwood.^[2] Their only child, Edna, was born three and one half months later, on 28th July 1905 at Campbelltown.^[3]

Horatio enlisted on 8th September 1915 for the Australian Imperial Force in the Great War.^[4] He embarked for Europe on 7th February 1916,^[5] and was never seen again by his family. On 19th December 1917 Horatio died of wounds caused by a hand grenade.^[6]

Horatio is buried at Pont-du-Hem Military Cemetery, La Gorgue, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.^[7]
