Lord James Charles Crichton-Stuart was born on 17 September 1935. He is the son of John Crichton-Stuart 5th Marquess of the County of Bute and his wife Lady Eileen Beatrice Forbes. [1]
He died on 5 December 1982 at age 47 at Upton Grey, Hampshire, England.
He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England.
He then entered Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Scots Guards (Reserves).
He was Aide-de-Camp to Governor-General of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nysaland between 1957 and 1958.2 He was a director of Coutts & Company.
1. On 25 June 1959 he married, firstly, daughter of Lt.-Col. Arthur Edward Croker Poole.
He was divorced in 1968.
2. In 1970 he was married, secondly to daughter of Major Henry McClintock Bunbury Bramwell.
