The two profiles are both listed as "Project Protected" by the British Royals and Aristocrats Project?

Anyone interested please read the comment section at the bottom of the Vavasour-61 profile.

I've added the 'euroaristo' tag, which is the correct one for all of the EuroAristo projects.  Thanks.

The beginning of the profile has a statement about these profiles being confused.  With the birthdates being 40 years apart, that is the first major question that would need to be reviewed.

Thank you, Linda. I set this as unmerged some time ago just need additional input.

The profiles need to be cleaned up some more, but they are definitely different men and should not be merged.

Names in this Anglo-Norman period are often related to the geographical area in which they or their ancestry originated.  That probably explains why you can have two families with seemingly the same name but have no obvious relationship to each other.  This appears to be the case in this situation.

In regards to the comment on Vavasour-61, I don't see anything posted there that contradicts the information that these two profiles are not the same.

Thanks, John. I agree the profiles need tweaking. However, I will leave that in more capable hands. So, if anyone can or wishes to work on the Vavasour-61 profile and has expert input go ahead.

As often in this era, there doesn't seem to be enough data for a positive reconstruction of the Vavasours.  Other points at issue are the parentage of William the judge, and the divergence of the Denton branch.

There are various attempts, going back to Glover, but no two the same.

The only possibility is to pick one version and go with it.  But on a user-contrib wiki, that's virtually impossible, because people won't go along with what's been done, they'll keep intruding information from an incompatible alternative theory.

Surely it isn't necessary to choose. Just make the argument and stop.

In response to John's comment about them being different men and reviewing the profiles, I've detached Julian de Multon from the one profile and proposed a merge of her with the other Julian that was attached to the other profile.

I've also set the two profiles as rejected matches to indicate that they represent different people.
