Egypt genealogy

Question

I know someone from Egypt who would like to locate Egyptian documents relevant to their family. I don't see an Egypt project, so I am wondering if anyone here on G2G knows a good place to get started. A lot of the links on the FamilySearch resources page for Egyptian genealogy are broken. There is a government website that has links to get vital records, but the links seem to be broken as well (at least, they give me an error).

There are a number of active links that a researcher can use to get started.

The Digital Assets Repository (DAR) is a system developed at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Library of Alexandria, to create and maintain the Library's digital collections.  It has a large collection of Arabic digital books, photo albums . http://dar.bibalex.org/webpages/dar.jsf

Genealogy.com has an Egyptian Forum as well but there is not a lot there.
