Abraham Riker Hillyer (aka A.R.)Son of Reverend Asa Hillyer and Jane Riker. He married Charlotte Matthews. He was a lawyer and founder of the Grinnell Herald newspaper in Iowa.Their son 1st Lt Asa Riker Hillyer in the 101st Ohio Volunteer infantry died in the civil war in the battle of Stone’s River. 

We need help sourcing him to the founder of this paper and properly categorizing him. Does he qualify as a Notable?

It was Abraham and Charlotte's son James M. "J.M. Hillyer" who founded the Grinnell Herald.
James M. Hillyer is the son of Abraham Riker Hillyer and Charlotte Matthews. Born circa 1837 Ohio. Married Martha A. Veader

the seven children of Reverend Asa Hillyer and Jane Riker are as follows:

1. Dr. Asa Hillyer III BORN August 1792; married Lydia Kollock circa 1822

2. Tace “Tase” Bradford Hillyer born March 9, 1794; buried September 20, 1882 at Rodedale cemetery, orange, New Jersey.

3. Margaret Hillyer born February 7, 1797; married Dr. ? Pierson

4. Jane Elizabeth Hillyer born August 3, 1801

5. Abraham Riker Hillyer born August 20, 1803 orange New Jersey married Charlotte Matthews

6. Edward Dickson Hillyer born in 1805 died before 1840

Just providing some information I had located after a quick search...

I can't state this as a fact, but I've located a few websites that reflects a "Rev. J. M. Hillyer" as the individual who had established that specific newspaper.
