Search for people by location?

Question

I really wish there was a way to search for people solely by their birth or death locations.......  like a search for all the profiles of people who were either born or died in "this location".

or for a specific Surname in a specific location........

and I REALLY wish there was a way to search surnames and variant surnames all at once....... for example being able to look at all the Stults, Stultz, Stoltz, & Stolts profiles all at once.

Is there ANY possibility that Wikitree might be able to add these ways to searching profiles?

That's possible now, it was an enhancement a few weeks back.

Just remember that not everyone is consistent with spellings and abbreviations, or even adding a state on the end.

Well, you might want to put the category of location of birth, marriage and Death of people in your watchlist. Then you can click on it whenever you want and you'll have other people with the same place of birth, say and you can look for last name spellings, etc. if enough people do this it may amount to what you're looking for.

Variant spellings for many last names (unfortunately, by no means all) are programmed into Wikitree's search database. Stults is one name that has a lot of variants in the database. So if you search for M* Stults (for example), you'll see a bunch of other last name spellings.
