Abbreviating my WikiTree URL?

Question

Does anyone know if there is a way of shortening my URL when I put a link to it on one of my websites, LinkedIn, Twitter etc? At present it is over 60 characters or what I would term huge!

PS I realise it can be "hidden" in a link as above but on some websites (eg some parts of LinkedIn) you can't do that and have to enter the lot.

Try bitly.com. Although, I'm not sure what you are linking to that would have such a lengthy URL.

A shorter version of your URL that you can use on other websites is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fairclough-119. For anybody other than you and people on the Trusted List for your profile this will take them to exactly the same place as the long link you posted (you can test this by clicking on the link when you are not logged in to WikiTree).

I see I should have checked for comments on existing answers and not just checked the answer count hadn't changed before posting my reply! Oh well, at least my answer is consistent with Deb's.
