Correct name for Pope Marcellus II

Question

Could I have help please on the correct naming of this Pope.  His current last name is “degli Spannochi” with a LNAB of Spannochi.  Should degli be part of his Surname or another middle name.  How does this work?  I want to be consistent so haven’t changed what was already there.  His ID- is Spannochi-2 not degli_Spannochi-2.

His surname is Cervini, isn’t it? The other part is a descriptor. I’m really not sure.

Correct, I hadn’t created the profile and saw what was on Wikipedia.  The Vatican website (https://w2.vatican.va/content/vatican/en/holy-father/marcello-ii.html) lists him under Cervini.  I will fix his profile to match.

Yes I saw the Vatacan site later as well. A little Latin from school made me instantly say that, but I am not a naming expert.  I’m glad it’s resolved. Let me know if you need help.

I think I need to create a new profile and merge it with this one as the ID name is wrong.  I’m doing that now.  Oops, I see that has already been done, just in time before I’d finished creating it. I’ll fix the rest. Thank you.  I also need to change the succession box for his successor.

I removed the “degli Spannochi” from his name metadata as it basically means “of the Spannochi” and according to the Vatican wasn’t part of his name.  I’ve left it in the Biography for clarity.

Just FYI, you don’t create a new profile and merge it although it appears as a merge.  I was able to adopt it as leader and edit the LNAB. technically that is a “merge” but you only click esit beside the last name. You only see that if you are PM. Leaders can adopt profiles 200 years old and older. That’s why I did that for you.  You probably already know all this. So, for the benefit of others, the way you would do that without a leader is to ask the PM to change the LNAB.
