This document establishes that Jarrett's wife Gartha died before October 1840.

How very sad the price that was placed on a person's life back then. I was actually crying reading that one of the people was valued at "nothing".

How very little our ancestors thought of their "property", and I am so very glad that I did not live in a generation that considered another person their "property".

There are so many things that I love about that time-period, but reading this document actually made me sad.
