Has anyone run across the Hatfield's or McCoys being kin to Thompson's?

A cousin told me he heard that the Thompson's are kin to the Hatfield's or McCoy's ,Has anyone ran across any Thompson names for the Hatfield's and McCoy's?

Benjamin Thompson was my Great-Great Grandfather whose photo I have here. He died fighting for the Confederacy. I don't know much other than that. I queried my Elders while they lived for as much info. on our family as I could get. I am the Great-Great Grandaughter of Nancy Caroline Reynolds born in 1862. She is the Spitting image of Nancy McCoy who married Johnse Hatfield. So many questions that I want anwsers to as well. I want to know how the Reynolds fit in with The McCoys. We are Cousins I was told.  I hope that I can solve this enigma and pass on the info. to my family here.   Belinda Rohrer, PA.

Well my grandmother betty Jo here maiden name is Reynolds from California and Oklahoma. My moms maiden name is Thompson from here father frank thompson

Probably later in history than your looking for but my half great grandaunt Francis Harley Thompson (Thompson-9043) borm Feb 26, 1891 in Knoxville, TN married an Edward McCoy in 1909.

I know I have Thompson ancestors who shot at each other so it is entirely possible.

Mary McCoy and John Baker Jr had a daughter named Rachel Thompson Baker so I would think there is a link between McCoy and Thompson. I too am searching for this relationship.
