Thank you Martin. I was expecting Chelsea or Kensington, but this may still be my grandfather.
I need more to work on if I'm going to connect them. Your father's name would help - or mother's or grandmother's maiden name.
My father's name was Frederick George Thomas Nye and he was born 28th (I think) April 1916 in either Kensington or Chelsea (Walton Street).
Based on that mother's maiden name was Rogers Free BMD

Frederick Nye married Annie Amelia Rogers 1904

1911 census lived at 176 Walton Street Chelsea. Frederick 48 chimney sweep, born Chelsea, Annie Amelia 25 born Fulham, 3 chikldren all born Chelsea.

Then you can go back rthrough the censuses to 1871 where Frederick is 9, brithers James and Richard - sons of Henry and Ann chimney sweep. Living in Walton Street..

Frederick was born 1 Feb 1863 and christened 1 Mar 1863 parents Henry chimneysweep and Ann..

Hope that helps I'll have a look for Annie next. No, apart from her birth in 1885, I can only find her in the 1901 census as a maid in Kensington.
That's it. My grandfather was one of those 'lucky' boys that used to scuttle up chimneys.

I think that Frederick and Annie Amelia had more than three children though. I remember my Aunt Ede (Edith) and Aunt Joan, and my father also talked of Wally (Walter) and Phil (Phillip, who was a policeman and died in the blitz). I also remember (perhaps wrongly) hearing that their first born was called Frederick, but died before my father was born, so that they called my father Frederick as well.

It's amazing that you found them. I couldn't even find my father's birth. Thank you.
Edith, Walter and Phillip are the three in 1911.

There are also a Sidney and Joan.

No other Fredericks in Kensington. Frederick George born Fulham 1907?
I bet that's the one. Does it show when Frederick George died? I think he was only a baby, or toddler. And yes, I had forgotten about Sidney. I am guessing that he was younger than my father. It was never mentioned what bacame of him, or Walter.

Thank you so much for helping me.
Walter appears to have died 1914 aged 9 and Sidney 1922 aged 3.
Thank you so much. There was also a family legend that my father and my aunt Joan were playing in the street one day and were sketched by an artist. That artist apparently took the drawings and turned them into the Bisto Kids! A wonderful scrap of social history if true!!!
